Hoodia gordonii is a leafless, cactus-like plant that is derived from a plant that typically grows in South Africa and Namibia. It contains a natural appetite-suppressant known as P57 (or hoodia p57), which was discovered by native bushmen, who used the meat of the plant during long hunting trips.
